Cabinet Count and Door Style
More doors and drawers means more prep, painting, and reassembly time. A full kitchen costs more than a small bathroom vanity. Detailed or raised-panel doors take more time per door than flat slabs — more profile means more surface area to prep and coat.
Existing Finish
Stained or lacquered cabinets need thorough degreasing, scuff sanding, and a bonding primer — more prep than previously painted cabinets. The existing finish determines the prep path and primer choice.
In-Place vs Removed
Removing doors to spray gives the smoothest finish and avoids sticking, but adds labor for setup, drying space, and reassembly. Painting in place costs less but gives a less perfect finish. We explain the trade-off for your kitchen.
Product
Cabinet-grade enamels and lacquers cost more than wall paint but resist chipping and cleaning far better. Using wall paint on cabinets is a common reason finishes fail at high-touch edges within a year or two.
